Hi Becky,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great blog and the attention and detail you put into it.
Today I was in the center taking notes of orchids I might want for my orchidarium and I came across a Dendrobium obtusipetalum in the display house which I had to have. After doing some research, all the sources I've found note this is a cold to cool growing variety. Was this grown in a cool greenhouse and moved to the display house after spiking, or have you had success growing it in more intermediate to warm conditions?
Thank You!
I'm glad you found that Dendrobium! Isn't it fantastic? It's one of my favorite plants on display right now. We've been growing it in an intermediate greenhouse in the summer and moving to a 52º greenhouse in the winter. Last week I noticed the flowers and moved it into the display area. I believe Andy's Orchids has it for sale.
DeleteThank you for your kind comments!
Thank you very much for the response. I now see that it's true identity is in question. This gives me hope that it might be a species I can keep in my collection. I'm looking forward to seeing the answer to the mystery.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for recommending Andy's Orchids. I've ordered from them in the past and I've loved both the plants and the service.
